What is a calculus?
Mineral substances contained in saliva form a compound with the dental deposit on the teeth surface. There the compound hardens making a rough misshapen deposit that is named calculus. As calculus is composed, basically, of mineral substances, the teeth surface becomes rough and a thorough removal of the dental deposit becomes difficult. After the calculus has been formed, it is impossible to clean it off with the aid of a toothbrush or a dental floss. Calculus can be removed during a regular check of teeth by your dentist only.
